Manage Legal Hold

This article explains the process of managing the Legal Hold status of users.


Requirements

Basic knowledge of Legal Hold is required.

Your permissions and Policies determine if you can manage Legal Hold. Contact your Strato administrator if you need assistance with these permissions.


Apply Legal Hold to a User

Below are the steps to apply a Legal Hold status to a user:

  1. Navigate to the appropriate page:
    • In Strato V1, go to Storage Management through the Storage Settings menu.
    • In Strato V2, go to People Hub from the home screen or from the Strato Applications Menu.
  2. In either Storage Management or People Hub, locate the user you want to put in Legal Hold.
  3. Click the actions button, then select Set Legal Hold.

Another way to set the Legal Hold status is by clicking on the user’s name in either Storage Management or People Hub, and selecting the Set Legal Hold button within the user's screen.

Once Legal Hold is applied, there will be a lock icon beside the user’s name to indicate that documents for that user are on Hold Status.

Remove Legal Hold from a User

Below are the steps to remove the Legal Hold status from a user:

  1. Navigate to the appropriate page:
    • In Strato V1, go to Storage Management through the Storage Settings menu.
    • In Strato V2, go to People Hub from the home screen or from the Strato Applications Menu.
  2. In either Storage Management or People Hub, locate the user you want to have the Legal Hold status removed.
  3. Click the actions button, then select Remove Legal Hold.

Another way to remove the Legal Hold status is by clicking on the user's name in either Storage Management or People Hub, and clicking the Remove Legal Hold button within the user's screen.
