Use a Google Sheets File as a Catalog or External Datasource
Files from Google Sheets can be used as a Catalog in Field Settings. This article explains the process of importing your Google Sheets to Strato.
Requirements
Basic knowledge of Field Settings / Manager is required.
Instructions
- In the Field Settings, click Import external data under the Actions section.

- The Import external data window will appear. Click on the Google Sheet tab, and then click Connect to Google.

- If you have already logged in to your Google account, skip to step 4. If not, a new tab asking to sign in to Google will open. You will be redirected back to Strato after logging in.

- A list of all Google Sheets files that you have access to will be shown. Select the file you want to use and click Next.

- After selecting a file, you can review its contents.

- Select a fileSelect which sheet of the Google Sheets file to use. You can refresh the list of sheets by clicking the Refresh button beside the dropdown.Catalog NameThe name of the Catalog. By default, this is set to the file name of the Google Sheets file.Preview
Shows the content of the selected sheet. The values in the first row function as the fields, and the rest are the possible values. You can do the following in this section:
- You can set which field will be the Key ID and Description by hovering over your selected column and press either the Key ID or the Description button. In the sample below, ID is the Key ID and Full Name is the Description.

- You can also set if the field should be treated as an email address by clicking the Email button.

- You can also set each field's data type to Text, Number, True/False, or Date using the dropdown boxes under the field name.

- For Date, an additional dropdown is shown that allows you to define how the system interprets the date values in the field.

- Once everything is done, click Save. Your newly created Catalog will appear in the EXT tab.

- Similar to other Catalogs, you can click on the Catalog to see its details, fields, and actions you can do with it.

When creating a new template, you can use your imported Catalog by clicking on the EXT tab.

The Fields in your imported Catalog also appears in the Field Selector.
