Global Finance Director

Taguig, Philippines

This position will report directly to Strato Global CEO and will have full accountabilities for all aspects of the Accounting and Controllership activities, Tax Compliance, Financial Reporting, Budgeting, as well as system implementation and enhancement, project work, and overseeing payroll and people-cost management in partnership with the HR function. 

This role is a senior Finance leadership role and assumes a broad scope of responsibilities, including all things Finance, as well as non-Finance responsibilities. The role requires senior level stakeholder management skills.

Main Responsibilities

  • Accounting, Controllership and Cash Management
  • ● Fully responsible for all accounting and controllership activities, including accuracy and completeness of all financial statements and reporting in accordance with Strato accounting policies, GAAPs, AASB 15, AASB 16, Statutory and Tax requirements.
  • ● Complete all external/statutory/group audit requirements, where needed. Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial statements, statutory filings, external audits and other regulated mandates.
  • ● Oversee month-end close activities, quarter-end and year-end activities; Ensure books are closed on an accurate and timely manner.
  • ● Preparation, review and approval of Balance Sheet Reconciliations. Fully responsible for accuracy and validity of balance sheets. Present B/S and highlight issues to CFO and Top Management.
  • ● Customer contract review for the purpose of the application of the correct accounting rules under AASB 15. Review and approval of Sales Orders to ensure correct accounting rules have been applied.
  • ● Develop, review and update of Strato accounting policies, for example, comprehensive revenue recognition policy under Australian GAAPs (especially the new AASB 15), Transfer Pricing policy etc.
  • ● Oversee cash collections and ensure adequate working capital for business operations.
  • ● Cash management and reporting; banking, banking partner management.
  • Tax Compliance and Planning
  • ● Performing tax nexus analysis and determining tax obligations. 
  • ● Preparation and submission of indirect tax returns (VAT, GST etc.) and corporate income tax returns for multiple tax jurisdictions, including AU, US, UK, DE, PH, CA etc. Complete tax audits, if any, and deal with tax authorities.
  • ● Prepare and oversee Transfer Pricing computations, intercompany transactions, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation of financials.
  • Financial Reporting and Budgeting
  • ● Preparation and analysis of various financial reports; Variance analysis; Trend analysis etc. Building financial models to help business decision-making and improve business performance.
  • ● Responsible for annual budget and working with CEO and the Business Units to complete the budget.
  • System Implementation and Enhancement
  • ● Implementing NetSuite ERP system or another accounting system (e.g Odoo). Enhance existing systems to meet evolving needs of the business.
  • ● Project management of system implementation.
  • Payroll & People-Cost Management
  • ● Oversee payroll governance across all jurisdictions; review and approve payroll, ensure timely payroll funding, and reconcile payroll to the general ledger. Maintain segregation of duties between payroll preparation (HR) and payroll approval and payment (Finance).
  • ● Ensure compliance with payroll-related tax and statutory contribution requirements in all jurisdictions in which Strato operates (currently Australia, the US, the UK, Germany, the Philippines and Canada), including employee withholding tax, social security, superannuation/pension and other mandatory contributions and filings.
  • ● Own the headcount and people-cost budget; work with the CEO, the HR Head and Business Units to plan workforce requirements and approve new roles against budget.
  • ● Provide cost analysis and affordability review for compensation and benefits changes, including salary reviews, bonuses, commissions, incentive plans and employee benefit programs.
  • ● Ensure accurate accounting for employee-related accruals and provisions, including leave liabilities, bonus accruals, long service leave, and termination and severance provisions.
  • General Management and Other
  • ● Manage and improve Finance processes, including Order to Cash cycle, Procure to Pay cycle, Record to Report cycle and fixed assets; Review and update SOPs; Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Strato policy, procedures and controls.
  • ● Responsible for developing, reporting on and managing Finance and HR KPIs; Identify trends and problem areas, report on risks and initiate corrective actions or new approaches; Define and ensure the implementation of Service Level Agreements.
  • ● Provide financial guidance to regional leaders and other non-Finance stakeholders.
  • ● Expenditure management and vendor management. Identify areas for vendor re-negotiations and generate cost savings.
  • ● Prepare and manage the Finance team and HR team budget.
  • ● Complete special financial, non-financial and ad hoc projects as directed by CEO.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Education/Licenses/Credentials
  • ● Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. 
  • ● Must be CPA qualified.
  • Experience
  • ● Strong technical accounting skills are a must. Minimum of 20 years’ experience in the finance and accounting field; Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IFRS. Expert knowledge on AASB15 (IFRS15) and AASB16. 
  • ● Big-4 Accounting Firm experience is a must.
  • ● Experience in preparation of indirect tax returns and corporate income tax returns for multiple tax jurisdictions.
  • ● Experience in managing a centralized Finance shared service center. 
  • ● Experience in large or mid-market ERP system implementation; NetSuite and Odoo implementation experience is highly desired.
  • ● Knowledge of and/or experience within the software industry is preferred.
  • ● Experience working in an international business organization is preferred. 
  • ● Experience in an environment where finance works as a business partner with the Business Units in a results-driven, sales-oriented environment.

  • ● Knowledge of ERP systems and experience with ERP implementations are highly desired.
  • ● Expertise in Microsoft Office Products and Google Products. Demonstrated experience using Excel and Gsheet to build models and maintain complex financial models/dashboards.
  • ● Good interpersonal skills with strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • ● Senior stakeholder management skills. Experience in working with Executive Level stakeholders and confidence in presenting to the C-Suite.
  • ● Ability to work well in a team environment with a wide variety of personnel from multiple disciplines and countries.
  • ● Strong analytical skills in reporting and analysis as well as a solid foundation in accounting, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • ● Very strong drive, dedication and work ethic.
  • ● High energy and enthusiasm with a desire and willingness to be held accountable for meeting strict deadlines and reporting requirements while balancing other workload demands.
